Advice req: Ventless jackets - thoughts, ramblings, theories, facts

I have a few ventless jackets and suits. I generally don't wear them.

For a long time I've thought them old fashioned and somehow not looking right from behind.

They actually look alright from the front, but the only ventless jackets I see on others are generally bad fits so I don't have any reference. And I can't get a look at how they look from behind on me. I suspect they look too straight from the back and sort of funny around the arse. Strangely I feel ok in one - a loverly grey Harris Tweed looking thing with a slight red line /check and slightly shorter than I generally wear. I wear it with jeans sometimes.

What to people think?

I don't want re-assurance of a generic kind - I'm interested in over thinking this as is my habit with most things in life.

How do youse people see a well enough fitting ventless jacket from behind?

What are the elements that say - out of style, wrong etc and what says its ok.

I've got sloping shoulders and slight scoliosis, which translates into center vents that open up unless everything is just so. So the ventless jacket takes that variable out of the equation.

You can't put your hands in your pockets without scrunching the jacket. And it sure lets out sitting on a horse.

From behind it looks like a guy in a ventless jacket. If it fits and I like it then that's that. I can see someone with a big caboose having difficulties.

Overall I don't care for them much. The guys I see wearing ventless suits are usually lawyers at Planning and Zoning meetings, hoping to wow the rubes with their city slicker style.

Otter : Take it easy, I'm pre-law.
Boon : I thought you were pre-med.
Otter : What's the difference?

I prefer vented jackets but I have acquired a few ventless models over time. They make me think of Cary Grant in North by Northwest.

Ventless jackets are fine with me and I think that they are as fashionable as the vented jackets. But then, I guess I still prefer the vented ones.
