Re: Ties Earn Their Stripes

Good article. Just this week, I saw a picture of Bill Gates in a tie. Definitely a good sign.

The trend still hasn't hit parts of NYC yet. Wednesday, Mrs Matt and I went to a matinee of "Chorus Line". House was packed. Only two guys had on ties. Most looked like they didn't own one.

Maybe better days are ahead.

Re: Ties Earn Their Stripes

I have noticed makers like Brooks buying exuisite and plush English silks for their ties. Even the made in China TM Lewin ties are well made and have a rich sensuousness to them, if one is allowed to put it like that. What I am trying to say is that I myself have found wearing ties more delightful than before.

That's a damned good read Marc, thanks.

I'm happy to see Tie's making a come-back. They're an awesome way to make items that might not go together by them selves fit.

You can wear a Navy Blue suit and a brown Fedora go together with a tie that has both colors in it.

Re: Ties Earn Their Stripes

That's what I'm saying. The tie should have the same colors as the suit, the fedora and the fedora's ribbon.

I'm not just saying it, (or writing it) I've in fact done it (today in fact.) I'll be writing about how to do it on my own site this week (complete with pictures and diagrams.)
