The vicar of Stiffkey

An interesting piece in this blog about the vicar whose interest was in saving fallen women. He met an untimely but interesting end.

Lyons corner houses get a mention too.

Re: The vicar of Stiffkey

Pretty stupid for a man of the cloth to be so intensely involved with hookers, whether innocent or not, but not nearly as stupid as doing an act with lions without being an experienced lion tamer--and bad things happen to the latter with considerable frequency: Consider the ill-fated Roy Horn...and, yeah, I know it was a tiger that got him. Some professionals in this field prefer to work with tigers as being more open in expressing their emotions and feelings.

Still, a colourful life.

Vicars like this are easy targets for our amusement, though.  In fact my favorite limerick book, long out of print, has a chapter titled "Aberrations of the Clergy".  Almost as much fun as the ever popular "Diseases".
