Re: Admiral Crotchrot Wannabes

The trouble is in every TV program or fillum that you see a bloke sporting a cravat, ( I'd say one should always "sport", as opposed to wear, a cravat), the sportee is usually portrayed as a cad, bounder, general shyster or just a generic bloody Terry Thomas. So "pulling off" a cravat is almost impossible.

Re: Admiral Crotchrot Wannabes

The cravat is the only piece of igent apparel that I would ever consider. As others have pointed out above the man beneath the clothes makes a lot of difference-  if you're silent and stiff you can wear cravats all day long and look like an ass, but if you're affable and interesting (and don't play with the cravat constantly) then it'll look fine. The key is getting enough natural charisma, therapy or drink to make you feel that you actually ARE affable and interesting. This is something that seems to puzzle the igents, who prefer to start with the clothes and consider the personality later, if at all.

Re: Admiral Crotchrot Wannabes

shooey I want your sekret knot. Mine slips.

I always feel more relaxed when a cravat is low in shirt and unobtrusive not popped up and shouting look at me or "Kiss Me Quick I'm Full of Jubes". Same with pocket hankies.

I'm generally in favour of things that cover up men's necks.

For some reason I couldn't load the first pic until now. Some words come to mind: pretentious; precious; priggish. I think he must be a cosplay type, but then he's clearly spent lots more money than the sci-fi-fantasy cosplay convention crowd do on dressing up. This 'chap' might actually have drunk his own kool aid.

Also, I think popeye's original post is a good summary of why I often repelled by the British.

"What sort of post-apocalyptic deathscape is this?"
"I don't want to look like a cock hungry sailor after all !!!"
"When it comes to infidelity, broken families, and reckless fatherhood, the underclass are amateurs."
