London adventure

There are some photos (on a forum known to us) of a mantoris and his groupies on a london adventure.  Am I the only one to think that the suit did not suit  'The Suit'?  The group photo in particular was memorable (is that Groucho down the back)?  And the hats - classic style!! Woohoohoo.

Re: London adventure

It was definitely an electric event, based on the personal chemistry of everyone in the
pictures--The smiles, the sheer excitement, just jumps out at you.

Re: London adventure

As I said in an earlier post, I think that Manton's suit is too long but very nice otherwise.

The other guys, well...

Re: London adventure

"The Suit" looks to be a couple inches too long IMHO but maybe that's his personal preference. The SB looks more flattering than the DB he was photographed in when his book came out.

Some of the groupies look a little costume-y. Right down to the ugly vintage ties. (The guy with the fish and chips is by far the best dressed of the bunch.)

I had cyber run ins with that fellow. seemed to have some facts. But I wouldn't trust his taste and I wouldn't lend him money.

Re: London adventure

I passed the Fedora Guy in full regalia on the street not too long ago---That particular mode of dress is best left to Internet message boards.

Re: London adventure

I thought it was The Chap meeting.

But then, I detected no irony in a Napoelonic pose of one particular member.

I thought the person who looked the most natural--perhaps due to his age--was the man in the monocle.

Perhaps their dour faces are a result of being emotionally drained from their pilgramage to meet the gods of Savile Row.

Re: London adventure

I see it as a very feminine thing to post photos of oneself.
Preening in public.
Large-ish hips.

All feminine qualities.

Mr Antongiavanni looks emaciated.
Right-wing politics must be wearing...
...on the body, if not the soul.

Re: London adventure

Manton has taken a line from the Duchess of Windsor's maxim--"You can never be too rich or too thin".

But he's only adapted the latter. Or maybe it's all that intensive studying of Strauss.
