The number of tailoring names has been a little overwhelming to say the least. I've been trawling the net and have come across many other names that are spoken well of in Naples as well. I think its time to send a few emails and get prices and general info. The site I've been most impressed with is Sabino, there looks to be a tiny amount of "ruffle" on the sleeve but perhaps this can be addressed? He may be out of my price range anyway. For sure Rubbincci is, phew, no way!
I've read that theres a lot of tailors in the Spanish quarter that are independent who's handwork is good and of low cost, though no names were given. Is this loose talk or is it worth a day of looking round the courtyards of the area?
Anyone got any feedback on Sabino?
Another day and even more names have turned up. How can one city have so many tailors!!!!! They must be very busy as I've yet to get a reply from one. Maybe this is part of the "first time customer not being taken seriously" problem I keep reading about?
Booked in to Sartoria Sabino on June 31st, many thanks for the advice, tips and general info. A great help to a sartorial luddite like myself.
The thing is I don't live in the UK, I'm meeting a friend in Milano whos got his own clothing company and travelling with him to Biella where he does his buying and he's going to introduce me to his suppliers. My friend is clued up on whats what and will put me right I'm sure. I'm having a bespoke suit made at the moment in England by Coleman & Son in Leicester, brown with a lillac window pane 13oz wool by Holland & Sherry. 2nd fitting for that is May 11th. I've always had made to measure before but already after one fitting I realise the difference is huge, I always knew Bespoke must be better of course but I just didn't realise the gap was so big. The tailor pointed out things that needed to be addressed, on the trousers they were really small things. Now I'm very aware of them on my other suits.
I was thinking about a grey suit for the Napoli one but POW check, maybe with a blue square on it.
Hear you about fabrics on ebay. Bought some for a pair of trousers that looked great but its very "loose" fabric. Rubbish really-well to my laymans eyes anyway.
Can't find a website for Bateman & Ogden. Do they have one or can I just drop in? I'd like to check it out towards the end of the year, can't see me being able to afford another suit till next year really. Not unless I stop eating or something.
