I thought for a moment a piece of toilet paper stuck to his shirt cuffs:

Regarding the Buffster's pic: I am wondering in what sort of industry this look would be acceepted as business attire?

Re: When bespoke wishes and fabric dreams go wrong

The suiting looks nice, like Cruz I prefer a wider spaced stripe myself, but if IRC from the essay there is only one chalkie in there, yet.

Tie, shirt and accessories are fine, PS's are not my thing, so I'm indifferent on than respect.

Interesting, that FNB decided to style this a SB DBL suit as opposed to his beloved DB. Maybe, he'll tell us why.

In France, this outfit would not shock anyone.  It's probably more formal & elegant than 95% of suits here, but the colors would not be a problem.

Interestingly, the pin stripes would turn more heads than the tie, I suspect.

What's the bone & skull fabric?  Bremberg?

Re: When bespoke wishes and fabric dreams go wrong

If I still needed a business suit I would happily wear that although I would not normally specify that lapel.

Would personally tone down the tie a tad (although I have a very similar one somewhere that must be 35 years old by now) so I could have a stronger stripe on the shirt but that’s just me.  I rarely wear a pocket square but would have no problems with that one but would have only a little showing.

I have not worn a business 3 piece in 25+ years and not sure I’d have that lining on a waistcoat if it was to be worn without the jacket, it makes me think of 1980’s city barrow boy / FX dealer / Hooray Henry. But would consider it on a shooting tweed, odd jacket or 2 piece.

Don’t think many Brits would be “repelled” by the outfit although I suspect many would think any PS is over the top.

Nothing in the outfit would be out of place in Melbourne - perhaps a gentle arched eye* at the pocketchief but the suit, tie, shirt, cufflinks wouldn't be a hindrance in being taken seriously in the board room.

* or in some places a sustained chiaking (ribbing) or running joke through the day.
