Charvet Shirts
I was at the Paris Charvet store late last year and inspected the shirts displayed in the 1st floor. While the quality is good I was not particularly impressed by the stitching, the collars, and overall construction. Also the fabrics seemed blah, maybe I'm spoiled by Riva, Bonfanti, and SICTess? Basically they seemed to be the same shirts you would find in your local Neiman Marcus et al. My question is, has anybody here seen or tried their bespoke shirts? I am hoping that these are made to higher standards than the ones I've seen, which I assume were RTW and MTM.

Very surprised to hear this. The RTW I've purchased from Saks and Bergdorf's has been excellent in terms of fabric and construction, though I am less enamored with the standard RTW collar. In particular the stitching seems extremely clean and precise, with a high number of stitches per inch. The buttons are shanked and I have yet to have a button even loosen slightly, compared to the stacked MOP buttons used by some other makers which have occasionally fallen off. In short, count me as a Charvet fan.

I have not had shirts made by Charvet, but my wife has and I went through the experience with her. While I don't think that they have Riva fabrics, the selection on the third floor is mind-boggling. They have every possible color, pattern and stripe that you could dream up in every quality of cotton. It is a truly immense selection.
As for construction, her shirts are very well made, but have no outstanding features. They are simply shirts made with small stitches and small seams and they fit beautifully. I prefer the chaos of going to Italy and dealing with my shirts there. It is part of the experience for me. I can say, however, that the fit that Charvet provides out of their Paris store bespoke department is going to look spectacular under any jacket. It is a very clean palate from which to work.
The accessories in the store are wonderful as well. The printed ties are great and far removed from the selections that we see here. The pocket squares are very nice and the dressing robes (although not my particular speed) are fantastic.

I have and enjoy their shirts. They are very very very expensive for ready wear.
