And that quality of leather transfers into the price of the shoes.
All respect to them though, they're keeping the traditional alive along with a few notable others. Some of which are a quarter of the price of John Lobb for bespoke shoes.

I haven't been a big fan of Lobb but these shoes really changed my mind. The choice of leather, buckles and then the skin stitching --which is amazing. Lovely, lovely shoes.

My understanding is that the two Lobb's are in fact totally different companies i.e. not now even in the same Group.
The Parisien outfit has bought the rights to the name only. I dunno' I could be wrong.
But the facts remain, English hand-made and bench made shoes are superior to the shoes made on the continent.

But someone told me recently, that their shareholders were different now, or at least some of them. And as you know Mr Grayson, the experience of the fitting between the London and Paris is competely different, the brand is not the same.
I've just emailed the dude who told me, he has access to D&B reports so I've demanded evidence of his bold and unsubstantiated claims.

Some spankers on there Formby, I don't really think that I'll ever have the dosh for a pair though Tim Little's prices are possible. I really like the idea of having Bespoke shoes, though not for fit. Standard size 44 or 43 does me just fine. Lots of great shoes out there for a lot less money. So I can't really say there a must have but i do like the idea...lush!
Never wiped off old polish with a water based spirit before, will have to try it. Anyone got any brands to recommend?

Slightly off topic, but shoemaker Marcel (other forum) does an extensive trial shoe. He can do a fully antiqued goiser constructed shoe using cheaper leather. His trial shoe was amazing and over-the-top. Pity l don't have a picture available.

rule of thumb: a trial shoe should be included with your initial order at a new place. though i wouldn't insist on one.l
