What a waste of time! It like trying to teach groaners to sing. If any of you bin Laden bashers are ever wrongly accused of something on the basis of mistaken identity and no one is interested in your defence, you'll change your tunes soon enough. Untill then: parp, parp.

Re: The Killing of Osama bin Laden and The Rule of Law

If you read my first post on this carefully, you will see where I start: the identification took place after he was rendered a corpse. I am sorry but I do not see that, as they had the location and troops to besiege it, exceptional circumstances or urgency required to be taken the action that was taken. All the 'reasons' given for killing an unarmed man (at that point presumably identified by a 'grass' who was after the reward), are just rot - fear for colleagues' safety and the possibility that he was wearing a suicide vest! I mean really! and what about the fact that there were children in the room. But I have had enough of this. It is plain that ignorance and prejudice is so rife amongst you that I am just wasting my time.

Indeed, it was an inside job. They kept him close, until the time they could sell him out and of course they did not show when the helicopters arrived. All those inquisitive military officers trained to kill. They kept him close, because they knew that selling him out at the right time was worth money. They're not islamsists, they're realists.

I am interested it what the lawyers, and barrack room lawyers like me, think what rights those poor souls who had to jump on 9/11 rather that be burnt alive, should they have been given the benefit of a trial by al-Queda before being executed? And those journalists and charity workers, who had their heads sawn-off, decapitated on Youtube, should they have had a trial too? Should we afford their aggressors the rights they denied others? Ofcourse not; bomb them, kill them, flatten their cities and unconditionally defeat them as we did with the Nazis.

All the rest is academic bullshit and semantics.

Grow-up and be men.

Re: The Killing of Osama bin Laden and The Rule of Law

I can confirm that Mr Bin Laden is not with Me.

Apparently he wants a trial because he was not properly extradited. Satan will be swearing the jury as soon as enough new lawyers arrive in Hell.

Right, they're ready to go. I will report back.

Silly and pointless discussion. Two sides trying to take the moral high ground.

Lots of unknowns but a suspicion that he was executed as an expediency. The Archbishop of Canterbury is troubled by it. Invading another country to get somebody? Law is changed/ignored as it suits. Lord Haw-Haw was fitted up in the end.

^The ecclesiastical headgear is called a "biretta," although I think what many Afghans and Pakistanis wear is more like a "Canterbury cap."

Beretta is a venerable Italian manufacturer of firearms and purveyor of outdoor clothing and related sporting goods.
