GGS -You muddle and confuse your comments on Don Juan's post and mine and your write such long, boring, repetitive, twisted, turgid tripe that I just cannot be bothered to trawl through it and try to make sense of it, except to note that you continue to miss the real point; which is (again) that civilized states should apply the same rules and procedures to all alleged malefactors: no exceptions, no excuses. Moreover, western criminal justice has as its bedrock the principle that it were better that guilty men go free than that innocent men be punished; especially when a capital offence is involved.

Instead of going over your bilge line by line, I am going to put primer on some metalwork that needs to be painted. Haven't you got some work to do?

Appreciate it, GGS, and I certainly look forward to it.  Like I said, it's an interesting topic on many levels.  I'm just starting the article Quay posted and I hope it lives up to expectations.  Meaning: I hope the article doesn't pretend to simplify things to jam the author's opinions through.  This is by no means a simple matter, as there is very little appropriate precedent and it's a bit of a convoluted mess, really.  Then again, any decent volume on international law will point out that this has historically been a general rule, not an exception.

As an executive summary of pertinent lessons on this topic: When it comes to tactical decisions requiring rapid mobilisation and operations behind enemy lines, do not under any circumstances consult a lawyer. For while they are debating the legality and the finer details of obscure clauses in the law, which in any evernt you can change at will through parliament, your enemy will have built an army, encircled you and will be screwing your daughter up the ass.
