Drinkin' a BIG Oz red and doing the housework, polishing floor and such and watching the new flat screen huge plasma thingo out of the corner of my eye - DVDs - Van Morrison at Montreaux 1974 and 1980 and Bruce at Barcelona.

And singing along like a happy Stepford Wife.

Yeah Maxy wot you said. To a  certain extent I can agree with you - along with his insistence of a brown bag full of cash before he would go on.  I can admire all that.

But perhaps he also ran out of creative steam at the same time and the "politics" worked as an excuse as well.

I never been to a Chuck concert because I'd heard too many reports of his throwaway performances. The live shows of My Dinga Ling extended sing alongs are enough to put anyone off.

At this precise moment Mozart Clarinet Concerto, Sabine Meyer + Berlin Philharmonic under Claudio Abbado

But have spent several enjoyable evenings discovering the joys of the Vienna Phil under Karl Bohm in LP recordings from the 60’s and 70’s on Deutsche Grammophon including Beethoven’s 9 symphonies and Mozart 40 &41. The Tempi are almost funereal at times but very musical and a great contrast with say Roger Norrington who has also done great recordings of the Beethoven.

"So this is love..more newly discovered works of Billy Strayhorn" by the Dutch Jazz ORchestra, Challenge 70091, it doesn't get any better than this.

^There's a tremendous vocal version of Strayhorn's "Blood Count" on Mark Murphy's "Kerouac, Then And Now".

"Hampton Hawes Trio Vol's 1, 2, 3" pefect for a warm afternoon dreaming about mid-1950's California and a Sunday afternoon jam session at Laguna beach.

Timo Lassy. Everything he does is a groove. The album is Round Two.

Just got a Digital Radio DAB+ that also connects to the wireless computer network and any radio station on the net. Connected to my main stereo system. Marvelous thing.

Anybody got any net radio programs from anywhere they would recommend? - Theres millions of them...

About the National Jukebox

The Library of Congress presents the National Jukebox, which makes historical sound recordings available to the public free of charge. The Jukebox includes recordings from the extraordinary collections of the Library of Congress Packard Campus for Audio Visual Conservation and other contributing libraries and archives. Recordings in the Jukebox were issued on record labels now owned by Sony Music Entertainment, which has granted the Library of Congress a gratis license to stream acoustical recordings.

At launch, the Jukebox includes more than 10,000 recordings made by the Victor Talking Machine Company between 1901 and 1925. Jukebox content will be increased regularly, with additional Victor recordings and acoustically recorded titles made by other Sony-owned U.S. labels, including Columbia, OKeh, and others.

Driving back from the supermarket  a short time ago, after picking up some fruit and chocolate bars, Janice Weber's brilliant performance of Liszt's Transcendental Studies 1838 version came on the radio

Here's one of the standout moments.

Always knocks me out that this is a single piano.
