FA Cup final yesterday. Tony Pulis of Stoke City.
I don't understand this. Managers never warm up on the pitch or run around. Why does Owen Coyle wear shorts anyway?
If you have gone to the trouble to dress up and are even wearing a boutonniere why change back? Pulis is a chav - but even so.
More moans. Why was the FA Cup not live on the BBC. Leaving it to ITV is downgrading of one of the world's great sporting events. When I was a kid there was blanket coverage on both stations from 9am until about 5:30.
ITV bought the rights to the FA Cup Final. It is one of the few events, e.g. Wimbledon, which must be screened on a terrestrial channel. The BBC appears to have given up on trying to acquire the rights to top sporting events, e.g. Formula 1. The BBC, if it cut back its bureaucracy and changed its priorities, could compete.
The BBC are more interested in schedules full of antique programmes and nice middle class people relocating down under or to the countryside.
And then there's the dummed down happy similey news.
^ The BBC still has Match of The Day - and now the Football League show - so there is something else at play. I cannot see a need for more than a couple of TV channels and a few radio stations though.
The FA Cup is not helped by having a busy League programme on the same day either. Cup Final Day used to be sacrosanct. Scottish Cup Final North of the border and that was it.
Bring back the Home internationals! Pull out of FIFA. Stop the money men ruining the game.
If you think football managers in track-suits are bad, you should get an eyeful of the idiot managers in baseball in America wearing the bloody team uniforms. Oy vey -- give me the Connie Mack look any day!
