Lykke li.
The kids like her I am told.
painting the bathroom - loud music - big speakers - alternating betwen Ms. choices and mine - her - Augustus Pablo - Dub and Internet radio reggae - rock Steady, Dub - me Dwight Yoakam Very best Of - and it is 20 twanging tracks all wholesome - well except for Crazy Little Thing Called Love - but it has novelty value.
We got jack of it around meal time - I had to go to hardware store for a door handle - picked up lamb cutlets rack- whacked it on BBQ - also picked up couple of beers p Coopers fer me and a few Tasmanian Cider for the handbrake plus a bottle of cheap Froggie shiraz. So we had a break, got stuck into the slops and are fininshing off the painting half cut - gonig well.
Have The Atlantic Years 5 CD set playing loud.

I was shopping for a suit the other day
And walked into the department store
I stepped on the elevator and told the girl
"Dry goods floor"
When I got off I saw a salesman was coming to me
He said "Now, what can I do for you"
I said "Well go in there and show me all the sport's clothes
Like you're supposed to"
He said, "Well, sure, come on in buddy
Dig these fabrics we got laid out on the shelf"
He said "Pick yourself out one
Try it on, stand in the mirror and dig yourself"
Ohhhhhh...That suit's pure herringbone
Ohhhhhh...Yeah, that's a suit I'd like to own
Ohhhhhh...Buddy, that suit is you
Ohhhhhh...Yeah, I believe it too
I see for the business man you feature the natural shoulder
That retail, wholesale indeed
It's got the custom cuffs and the walking short
He said "And I'm gonna let you have at a steal"
And for the playboy you have the latest in tweed
With the cut-away flap over twice
It's a box-back, two button western model
He said, "Now ain't that nice"
Ohhhhhh...Them buttons are solid gold
Ohhhhhh...You made a deal, sold
Ohhhhhh...That collar's pure camel hair
Ohhhhhh...Well, you can just set it down right in that chair
(Sax interlude)
Now you go back there and you get that paper and let me sign on the dotted line
And I'll make sure I get all my payments in right on time
Hey wait a minute buddy, let me go back there and do a little checking on you
Then the man come back, he said "I'm sorry my man but your credit didn't go through"
Why, what you mean
Ohhhhhh...Ain't this a shame
Ohhhhhh...My heart's in pain
Ohhhhhh...Pure, pure herringbone
Ohhhhhh...That's a suit you'll never own
Oh, Lord have mercy
====
Whenver I go shoppin I hum this song and truck, saunter, lope, shuffle, stride, along thinking I'm a dude.
Man that sax "interlude" is King Curtis himself - pure herringbone ok man......

Fuck me, I remember buying a Jan Hammer CD and Jean Michel Jarre's "Waiting for Cousteau" at the same time.
Even Miles Davis was in an episode of 'Miami Vice', truly a fall from grace.
Some of Jarre's pieces have not aged well, 'Computer Weekend' for example.
Never really got Dylan, I thought Joan Baez sang his songs better than him. The Band I like, but even on 'The Last Waltz' when Bobby comes on stage, well, its not as good as the other guests, and I include Neal Diamond.
Just poured the whisky and put on Stan Getz, 'The Complete Roost Session Vol.1'.
Got my tickets to see Kinky Friedman and Van Dyke Parks next week here.

yeah Van Dyke Parks is still around and whats more he was on the Radio National Music Show this morning - talking to Andy Ford - and he did a live to air tune - later on the Kinkster was on too.

About fourteen years ago, Paul Simon played in Liverpool during one of the festivals there, it was meant to be a tremendous concert, I took my mother to see UB40 instead. To be fair to UB40, although they were all bloated, they were not as bad as expected.
I've just put on the disc five of the Mosaic's box set of Louis Armstrong's Deccas Sessions 1935-1946, music to soothe a heavy heart.
I haven't heard that, but Paul Simon has a sense of humour and Dylan does not. And contrary to popular misconception it was Dylan's crew that got Edie Sedgewick into heroin and not Andy Warhol. I suppose its quite possible they would not get on.
c'mon - has a no sense of humour? - Bob is a funny man. Listen to him on Theme Time Radio Hour
