Doctor Who, Harris tweed and the BBC

I only ever watched the original many decades ago.

I never imagined there was a market for Dr. Who wannabes though.

More crapp from the BBC. What do we expect?

There is a fairly big interest in replica scarves of the kind worn by Tom Baker. I confess to thinking them cool. This makes me a less-than-respectable person I suppose. But I don't care.

Re: Doctor Who, Harris tweed and the BBC

As usual, the Mail poached the story from another paper - http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/showbiz/television-news/2011/05/22/doctor-who-swaps-harris-tweed-for-chinese-rip-off-as-bbc-sell-replicas-for-360-86908-23148531/

Anyone paying £360 must be a mad fan-boy. Even £250 is OTT. Lots of stores discount the standard range that Haggas marketed, e.g.

£185 - http://www.harristweedshop.com/sports-jacket.html.
£170 - http://www.peterchristian.co.uk/Catalogue/Mens/Jackets-Coats/Harris-Tweed-Jacket-MJ15
£169 - http://www.highlandstore.com/acatalog/Harris_Tweed_Jacket.html

It's typical of the BBC to stab a British industry in the back.

Re: Doctor Who, Harris tweed and the BBC

A spokesman said: 'The tweed changed because they needed a warmer jacket for outside filming.'

More fuel on the flames.

Eccentricities are fun.

And these Dr. Who fans, or Whovians or whatever they're called, outnumber men who post on clothing forums by about 50:1.

We're the eccentrics, they're mainstream fans of a long-running, popular tv show.
