Re: Plato's Guardians

^ Now we are in John Stuart Mill territory. Bits of moral relativism too. I thought Plato might have a more absolutist approach.

I always think that an 'accusation' of elitism is quite a compliment!

Re: Plato's Guardians

Mill was a prodigy but kept separate and home schooled by the parents. So I am not sure what he would think about educating an elite.

Another problem is society is now too cynical and venal to go for the Plato stuff. Mill is a lot more modern.

Re: Plato's Guardians

I have never understood the lionization or adoration of the Kennedy clan, a family whose fortune was built on organized crime and whose ranks are filled with drunks, junkies, rapists, murderers and serial adulterers.

It's amazing what a few pics of boys in khakis can do.

Re: Plato's Guardians

JFK was not without his accomplishments; The Space program, the Peace Corp and the Nuclear Test Ban but he his falsely credited with the Civil Rights movement which should rightly be attributed to Johnson.

His handling of Cuba, the Bay of Pigs betrayal and his involvement of the U.S. in Vietnam seem to be constantly overlooked by the MSM and especially by Chris Matthews whom I liken to a succubus gorging on the Kennedy carcass.
