Re: Plato's Guardians

This is weird. I'm rereading Plato's Republic/Constitution after many years. We need something, that's for fucking sure. If there's one thing I hate, it's a nanny state and political correctness gone mad. Oh, two things. Who the fuck wants to be ruled by a "nanny state"? Most people who use the term are Randian buggers or mad Libertarians who by "nanny state" mean "government". My term for the new economy is economic rape.

Re: Plato's Guardians

From the very beginning Khrushchev had JFK on his heels and treated him like his bitch.

This humiliation lead to the brinksmanship which nearly got us all blown off the planet and yet for some reason this is always overlooked

Re: Plato's Guardians

I think what NJS objects to (see his other thread on smoking) is what American paleoconservatives refer to as 'anarcho tyranny'.

Namely failure to punish the real criminals accompanied by the persecution of the law-abiding majority with the introduction of a never-ending list of new and petty rules.

Re: Plato's Guardians

If these bred guardians are all going to be blond haired, blue eyed 6ft plus with long legs and huge breasts I'm all for it, as long as there lots and lots of them 'cause I'm going to need at least 2 myself if I'm going to be guarded correctly. If their not going to be bred that way I think its a crap idea.

One of his finest regarding  women, I also like "Youth and Age on Beaulieu River, Hants". And there is another but after a nice bottle of Rioca I can remember it..... hic

Re: Plato's Guardians

Just re-saw Attenborough's 'Gandhi'. That's the kind of guy the world needs now: "My friends all complain about how much it costs them to keep me in poverty"

Re: Plato's Guardians

Except, maybe, do you want Her looking down, on you, as a worm? Not exactly: you want the worm's eye view up the itsy-bitsy-teeny-weeny tennis skirt! - Green teeth glinting 'neath the Camberley pines and, above all, you want to snuggle into that scented wrap in the car park - at exactly a 20 to 1!
