l want this project to be really special and for everyone to know about the last of the great Australian shoe projects. There will be various media coverage of this in various newspapers and hopefully a picture of the three great men who worked on this project and myself all in the one place. The picture will show the end of an era and will show the pinnacle of shoemaking talent at the highest level in Australia, this story will be great and heartfelt. These skilled men deserve a write-up and l won't rest until l have it done, the story is too great not to bring it to public attention. l wonder if l can get the story on t.v....let me work on that....will be difficult but i'll give it a really good go.

Mr X is taking far too long on this project and his attitude is far too casual, so my 6th sense is telling me to stop this project with Mr X immediately and start again. Tomorrow l drop around to see Mr X, pick everything up and start with new plans all over again. John is getting older so time is now running out. l must quickly find a new man to replace Mr X (won't be easy....no-one will have his skills) or go for a simple mtm shoo that will be many levels down from my original aim of bespoke. Two years have almost passed since l started this project and it's time l finished it. lf necessary l will ditch my `last' and start completely from scratch.
l'm not giving Mr X any more time to do it, he's had long enough.

shooey - I would neither walk away nor hold on like a terrier.
Be zen like - explain you are disappointed but don't insult - wait without expectations or anger treat it as a donation to excellence in shoo making - if you then get something back - well - what a bonus
My 6th sense is telling me that i'm done for with this project. Mr X has my bespoke lasts and my vass shoos, and l don't think l am going to see any of them again. l suspected something was up weeks ago and now he is suddenly not answering his phone anymore. l could be wrong but l will be surprised if this works out well. l'll give it another two weeks to try finding him, but if i'm unsuccessful l will have to start the project all over again.

shooey - its pretty easy to find people - unless they are absolute no hopers doing a moonlight flit - even then ..
He's greek isn't he??
I know enough Greeks in the North to find anyone whose name ends in -dopolous or starts in Spiros

Mr X and myself have reached a compromise. He will do the pattern and design for my upper, but he will have a mate do a really basic trial shoo for me. No arch supports with this shoo and no extra fancy trial shoo as previously planned, but at least the final product will be still classified as bespoke. His heart wasn't in it at the end and he is selling his machinery and retiring so l must be satisfied and feel lucky he is even prepared to do this much. No-one will do the work as well as he will.
As for getting arch supports in all my other shoos, i'm trying someone else for that too. Anyway...i'll be glad to get my beautful Vass shell cordovan black captoe oxfords back, it's winter and l miss them.
l could have broken Mr X's balls, but what is the point, his heart wasn't in it. Sure lots of time was wasted, but at least i'll still get a good bespoke shoo.
