Ivy Rise Jeans ?
Dark Blue Denim with the Ivy rise - Any ideas?
'Boom Years' pics show Blue Jeans with the Ivy rise to the Natural Waist (companion of the Natural Shoulder) in a kinda Sta-Prest cut.
What were they?
I dunno !
Is there anything today to replicate the look?

Philip Sparks makes a high waisted denim trouser that some may believe qualify as a reasonable facsimile. Last winter, very heavy indigo denim (some including plaid flannel lining) and brushed olive canvas were being offered. The rise is about 10.5" and the leg opening is 8". Made in Canada.

"Ivy rise" sounds like a silly term, but jeans in the glory days almost all had a full rise of 11-11.5"
I'm wearing Lee 101z right now, which are imo "ivy as fuck". zipper fly, popular from mid 50s when James Dean wore them in Rebel without a Cause to the late 60s (mentioned as one of the preferred denims of original 1968 skinheads, along with Levis 1967 505). High 11.5" rise, slim thru the leg (about 7.75" hem on size 32).
I'd say both Levis 1967 505 and Lee 101z are the perfect ivy jean. high rise, slim tapered leg. Neither were shrink to fit, so no sizing issues trying to figure out how much they'd shrink

Would second Jason's recommendation of LVC 1967 505s. Got one pair, would love a couple more.
They sit just below my belly button and have a great slim but not skinny leg. Never found anything else (cheaper) that has the same fit.

dont really care about the patch, gets covered by my belt,. but the other pair i have has the "hair on hide" patch which is always "desirable" by those who care about that kind of stuff
and it's not a completely authentic repro, the original 101z has half selvedge only, with an overlocked seam on the other half of the outer seam. afaik only "Real McCoys" from japan makes a completely authentic 101z repro (tho Lee used to make it years ago too but dont think they have recently), but that said I prefer the modern update to it since I always hated how the half selvedge looked on the real ones. but the fit is def not modern, in that it doesnt have the lower rise that most modern jeans have....only a repro cut will have a 11.5" rise these days

The regular shrink-to-fit 501s have a fairly high rise as well - certainly higher than the pre-shrunk model. I'd like them to be a bit darker though, especially as they fade rapidly when you wash them. Still, a great purchase for $40 or so. I recently bought a made in USA deadstock pair from the early nineties, they were a great purchase for $70 or so. The denim was a lot heavier compared to the current STFs, it also had a light nap which might not be to everyone's liking.
The current 505s in regular range are really different from the LVC 1967 505s. Although they come in a nice dark rigid denim, the rise is a bit too low for my liking and the isn't much taper at the hems. Still, at under $40 in the States, they're not bad.
