It does not surprise me that Cruiser got the hump. It detracts from his image to be 'infracted' - never mind banned.

Cruiser may have also paused to give thought to what he was actually doing on there in any case. He obviously enjoys a good argument; but he had already seen off most of his main opponents. Better to leave on a high rather than sheepishly return.

I am surprised Andy was annoyed by him. Maybe he was bad for business but I suspect - for some strange reason -raining on the Royal Wedding parade was the final straw.

Do Australians count ? Dame Judith Anderson used to live nearby. I had a college friend who lived in her gatehouse / cottage

Why should he care what Manton thinks, he isn't the one who'll be wearing it. Why doesn't he just get the thing made up and see how it goes. He might be pleasantly surprised.

Strange.

Re: Inane Post of the Day 3 Now With Double Inanity Blocking Powerrrrr!

Times Square has recently closed several areas to traffic and erected bistro chairs and tables. What was once a gritty scene from a film noir movie set is now a sanitized, Disneyfied tourist trap.

Same thing at Madison Square Park and 23rd St. Do you remember the MK era ? One wouldn't dare to enter the park across the street unless you were looking to score heroin.

Soho - Once the home of Rausehenberg's $ 75.00 a month cold water loft is now the home of every international brand imaginable.  So much so that the small galleries and little restaurants, that once drew the retailers in the first place, can no longer afford to be there. There are a few exceptions e.g.; Raoul's and a few others whom were smart enough to buy the building's that they were in when they had a chance.

The Meatpacking District ........

A small entrepreneur or somebody with a dream can no longer compete in Manhattan unless the landlord is a relative or is rich enough and feels like 'giving the kid a break'. It's just too easy to have a sure thing with a bank, a Starbucks or an Old Navy as a tenant

Hundreds of little mom and pop jewels are dead and gone and replaced by stores that can be seen in any mall across America.

The younger less established members of the creative class have now moved to Brooklyn and the process is repeating itself but at an amplified and accelerated rate because now everybody knows the drill.

I know there's no use in complaining or reinventing a falsely remembered past - but many great things are being lost and replaced with others that have no texture, color or flavor.

It is the Mall of America, New York Branch.
