Hi, can anyone recommend a good bespoke shirtmaker in Milan?
DO THEY HAVE TO MAKE THE SHIRTS COMPLETELY BY HAND?
Not necessarily Ken. Being a slim 6'5", a proper fit would be an improvement on my current RTW shirts. I live in London but can't seem to find a shirtmaker here who does the spread collars like the Italians. Any suggestions gratefully received.
Siniscalchi-Milan
I don't have any contact info on hand, but others might. It's also listed in Flusser's "Style & the Man", if that helps. He's also listed a FANTASTIC shirting fabric store in Milan where there are supposedly literally THOUSANDS of bolts of shirtings!!! I'm not kidding. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.
Isn't Lorenzini near Milan?
Thanks for the suggestions guys. I've had a trawl on the web and unfortunately can't find contact details for either - do any other members have their details?
Cheers,
BJS
According to methaw a bitchy old bullshitter only wears 100 percent hand-sewn boxer shorts.
BJS,
if you visit Milan pop into Clerici; it's a shirting material shop in via Dante, probably the best in the town, few steps from the central Piazza del Duomo. If you buy material at them they will be happy to advice you about bespoke shirmakers (according to your needs, budget, etc.)
Never heard of Siniscalchi, I'll try to find out something, while Lorenzini is outside Milan (see www.lorenzini.it).
Advice: whatever you have heard around, avoid Truzzi. Definitely steep, and salespeople there think politeness is a rationed good, to use only in very special and rare circumstances :-)
Thanks for the tips Daniele - much appreciated.
Rubinacci has a Milan boutique, and does bespoke shirts ...
No personal experience but have heard good things about her shirts:
