Sat on the top of a number 65 bus to Ealing, I spotted there is a SteamPunk exhibition at the Steam Museum in Kew.
Very timely in the light of recent posts. http://steampunk.kbsm.org/
It is a while since I was inside that place which was mostly run by enthusiasts at the weekends. I have yet to visit the musical instruments museum nearby.- http://www.musicalmuseum.co.uk/index.shtml On the North side of Kew Bridge the old eco warriors squat is now the site of new apartments. The Express Tavern still advertises Draught Bass though.

Which brings me to my next question: Is there another film, book, television series, what have you, that Europeans find not only insightful, but essential, to understanding the U.S.? For example, "Withnal and I" in the U.S. is considered a nearly perfect encapsulation of late 60s London, right or wrong. Does a similar example exist for the US of A, for European members?

Does anyone else remember the Frasier episode when he gets his suede shoes wet just before a public appearance, so he buys new shoes but then his feet hurt all day? The travails of the fictional iGent...
I see 'Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas' as the US equivalent of 'Withnail & I' (which is pretty accurate, I live like that).
