Polls for FNB.com

Would the members like to see the polling function here? Ironic that I probably should set up a poll to see if we want polls but the feature has to be created from scratch.

You can post replies here but also pms are perfectly acceptable.

Re: Polls for FNB.com

All I want is more of everything...

Polls please!

(Maybe don't go spending too much money on it all though, I'm not sure what they really add apart from a little more fun.)

Re: Polls for FNB.com

Could we have an internet pinata instead?

Oh no wait, we've done that already...

Re: Polls for FNB.com

I would like to start a biggest douchebag on AAAC poll.  Make sure you set the number of poll options very high.

I'm a big fan of polls. Creating, reading, voting, posting - it's all good.

Re: Polls for FNB.com

They aren't necessary but can be useful, I vote yes.

No, but thank you for asking.

Interesting (if only to me) bit of opinion polling trivia:  George Gallup was my grandmother's astronomy lab partner in college.  No word on whether they fudged their data.

Re: Polls for FNB.com

No. Polls would only dilute the content of the site.

Would we really want an uproar such as that over at Styleforum? We create our own uproars.

Re: Polls for FNB.com

FNB, I am reminded here of the story of the old man, the little boy and the ass.   While not relating the story here due to lack of minutes I hope some are familar with it and maybe some one will post the parable.  The moral of it was that while trying to please everyone they all three ended up in the river and drowned.

The good to take from it is that while others inputs are always desired on any forum your decision is the one that counts as long as you pay the bills.

With that said, there are a couple free forum formats available out there one is PHP BB and the other is VBulliten .   Both have extremly powerful and user tailored features you can use or not use and both ( especially PHPBB) has a million and one free "mods" that you down load and plug in for any feature you desire.

Converting your existing data base to one of these is simple as falling off a log to a coder that know about SQL tables or Php code and would not take them a couple hours and would cost under 50 bux on Rentacoder.com .

As for polls I am not for nor against them and I do not have enough clout here to cast a vote if I did have an opinion as I am too new and not in the inner circle.

If I could be so brave to suggest anything at all it would be to take the wondeful background and your excellent temperment and add some areas to this forum that would allow it to become the one that all that seek sage advise and helpful things without heavy handed and unfair moderation come to.

While its a place rich with the knowledge of the sage users, its also one that is used as I can tell and maybe I cannot tell to primarily, shun, paroady, belittle and scoff at others that have not a clue.   While I find all this beneficial to a point, I find that the lacking of other features on here will not provide more than a safehaven for the supposed " misfits" that are so sage in thier professional opinions and knowledge that they would not ever fit in on other forums.

So if an exclusive club is the order of the day, then I say more power to it and rid the final two trools here that the one of only came to recruit in private for his own forum and the other simply has no clue nor friends but is a good by confused kid that is just trying to fit in and let the experts have at it then.

Now no one ask for my opinion and yet that never stopped me before.

Hope this helps

Think about it.

Charlie

Re: Polls for FNB.com

A preview function would be nice. At present, it is only available if you are quoting a previous poster.

Indifferent to the idea of polls.  I've never posted one, but maybe they're useful.
