Comolli = Harris?
Isn't it a bit unfair to characterize Mr. Pollock as a "mentally ill man" just because he's a bit of an addictive accumulator with his 200+ pairs of fine shoes? Don't most of us have some sort of quirks like that? I knew one fellow who owned more than 400 firearms (nearly all of them "gentlemanly" guns, not killing guns) and kept a motorcycle in the front room of his apartment. An odd duck, to be sure, but he certainly seemed like a very friendly, happy man, at peace with himself and the world. Another man I knew had maintained a large menagerie of snakes, many of them extremely dangerous (e.g., a bushmaster, a Gold's cobra, many rattlesnakes). Not my thing at all, but he was a competent, highly intelligent man who never betrayed any signs of psychic instability or mental illness in my extensive dealings with him. Personally, I'd far, far rather have Mr. Pollock's shoe wardrobe, in my size of course, than the snakes!
Comolli sounds more like the really mad one on balance.

" Simonnet Goddard chambray bespoke tunic shirts with detachable collars .... "
Really, bespoke work shirts with pockets and detachable collars ?
How confused and or bored is this chap ?
Surely the collar symbolises the wearers detachment from reality?
