It's a long, long time since I've heard UK Subs. Thanks for reminding me of them.
Still gigging today the UK Subs. Not a fan myself but I like their song Tomorrows Girls.
Got sent a link to this today-a cover of an Eddie Floyd tune. Brill, but it doesn't seem to have been recorded on the old plastic. Too bad.

For your listening pleasure, there's a Who Quodrophenia box-set coming out, with four or five CD's of outtakes and in DVD-Audio 5.1 the full album. Essential, me thinks.
Talk Talk's 1986 album 'The Colour of Spring'
A very underrated band IMO...

FNB I owe you a reply. Will have to wait a while. I'm listening to my kids stuff and working my way back through Willy deVille.

Art Pepper's legendary 1980 gig at Ronnie's Scott's, remastered with great dialogue and banter with the audience released on 4 CDs as 'Blues For The Fisherman' on Laurie Pepper's Widow's Taste label. And I can tell you, this is much more pleasing than the 1977 Village Vanguard Sessions were he was calming his stagefright with copious amounts of methadone with whisky and cocaine chasers.

Maxy Baby, I'm afraid I'd be out of my depth in any of the USA cities. I'd be confused about how to dress. Would I dress in trad two roll three or three roll two sack jacket or cordovan loafers or boat shoes or if I should commission a new morning coat and I'd be completely hopeless trying to " carry" the necessary firepower required amongst the inevitable uncouth non morning or trad dressed denizens.
I'm sure Lufty could advise me about dressing to carry a concealed weapon and no doubt you'd help out with unsolicited advice too.
Re music, I'm sure I have the bootleg outtakes of Buddy Bolden's last great recording sessions somewhere here in my library.
That bloke who runs the shop you mentioned looks like a hairy old folky hippy. Denys from Hound Dogs is more your tat toed rockabilly dressing with brushback hair etc. No " folk" music to be seen in the shop.
