Re: Your Cloth of Choice?

Checked out the site (cheers Yachtie). I can only get really small pictures of the fabrics for some reason but I'm leaning towards those flannels big time Formby, though I guess their not too hard wearing? I've seen some of Scabal's more sober cloths at the tailors. Not very nice, think they were called Tripple AAA.

Like the look of the "gold" fabric in the video but would have to see it in the raw. I wonder how shiney are the fecks? Might bit a bit Disco Stu in a club, like a mirror ball on legs. Not that I can afford it anyway.

Re: Your Cloth of Choice?

Thanks for that, your a gent. I like the look of the first one you posted and also like the sound of it looking like a solid gray from a distance, also dig the one with the blue windowpane (or is it called overcheck? ( but the two underneath that are belters as well.))  Think their my two favorites out of those. Can't wait to get there now.
I've been told that they don't have a card machine at the mill, so its got to be cash. Might not be a bad thing, set myself a limit and will have to stick it. I should think it'd be easy to go mental in there with a card.

Re: Your Cloth of Choice?

I think you've hit the nail on the head for me Formby!
I want the bespoke shoes, wouldn't say no to a gold pinstripe suit either but these are big ticket items to a lowly manual worker like myself. I can justify the expense of the cloth, the feeling of wearing such lushness made into something with a great fit by hand must be fantastic. Its just getting the dosh together to buy it thats the problem. Never say never though.

Funny really that I'd spend that much on a suit if I had it, but wouldn't pay £100 for Nick Foulke's book on the history of Napoli tailoring, though its no doubt a good read.

Re: Your Cloth of Choice?

Those Scabal pow samples are really smart.. how heavy weight are the wools? I might get a couple of trouser lengths made up for the fall..

In my opinion, Guabello of Italy makes beautiful fabrics and the source of some of my favorite bespoke suitings.

Re: Your Cloth of Choice?

Thanks I just noticed on the stickers.. I've got too many suit orders in right now and recently spent a fortune on clobber, but I really like them a lot and they're definitely going on my winter list. Will have to flip through the books.

Re: Your Cloth of Choice?

Would love to see it when it's done... I'll have quite a few ready for late fall. I've got one grey & black pow check with an overlap purple check; a black & white with beige overlap; and a heavyweight flannel dogtooth all being made into full length suits. Then an olive green flecked heavy tweed with overlapping red, mustard, dark blue and brown windowpanes being turned into a sports coat. I've also a nice tan and brown herringbone (very ivy!) that I'm going to eventually try and cut an overcoat from, if there's enough fabric. If not, it'll be another odd jacket down the road.
