If you're like me one thing keeps leaping out at you as you browse the Trad section of leading internet clothing resource Ask Andy About Clothes - the tremendous dignity, wisdom, wit, sexual power and sartorial excellence of "mcarthur," noted inventor of "the mcarthur method," a spiritual doctrine that some dull-minded individuals mistake for a shoe-polishing technique. Now members of the internet at large have a chance to own a part of the noble mcarthur tradition by buying a pair of mcarthur's own old used-up Aldens:

For the low price of $495.00 (including shipping, unless you live in Canada; tracking number provided gratis) you can join the inner circle of nephews, experiencing the sacred bliss of fondling and boning the fine cordovan footwear so lately invaded and filled to capacity by the charming argyle socks of the great mystic and holy man himself! I would imagine that for a small additional fee mcarthur would include a handwritten note with one of his hilarious catch-phrases:
"nephew, i like your attire"
"nice attire nephew"
"good looking attire"
"nice lhs shells"
"nephew, good shine on your lhs"
Act now!
Already noted in the Talk Ivy section

Posters presumably think it is fairly routine AAAC thread
It's interesting that mcarthur apparently has someone else managing the site, since the smarmy sales copy employs punctuation and capital letters. I also note that the shoes seem to cover a very wide range of sizes - is this just Alden's bizarre last/size calculus, or was mcarthur buying shoes that he couldn't actually wear?
The weirdly precise wear estimates (16 times, etc) make me sad, both in the sense that someone might have kept track of exactly how many times he wore his shoes and in the sense that they might be a selling point for someone who deludes himself into thinking that he's getting a good deal paying $500 for used shoes. A rather sordid affair, all in all.
It did cross my mind that mcarthur might be an elaborate Russell Street style trolling exercise
You don't often see the whole man. A bloke in a trilby in a bathroom mirror sometimes - but mostly just the bottom of the legs with OTC argylles and whatever flavour and style of cordovan is being discussed at the time.
I think you should pay extra for the ones that mac actually wore himself.
Unbelievable.
Did the world end when I wasn't looking?
is he broke?
also, there are plastic heel taps on. what a letdown.
I wonder if the "worn x times" number includes the requisite 5 or 6 hours of wear on the home carpet, to make sure the mail-order shoes actually fit, before venturing out onto pavements, potholed streets, wet grass, gravel areas, etc. It would make a huge difference.
So who is the loser who wrote this blog, is it him or some other log?
Some people shouldn't be allowed to have shoos.
Maybe you could make movies with the shoes and a special friend ?

dressshoeguy on You Tube certainly seems to get value for money.
I'm deeply suspicious.
The whole 16 times worn thing is made up - c'mon how many people have 4 pair of shoes for sale second hand and each worn exactly 16 times. With one pair 15 times.
Convenient marketing hype.

shooey I think meister has bought all 5 pairs. Those Sydney blokes........
bastard!
l find that you need to wear a lightly pre owned shoo about four times before your vibration exceeds the previous wearers vibration. l have hardly worn a preowned shoo in my life (well not until l met meister ), but l always know when the previous owner has been full of sin, l can always feel some dark energy coming off the shoos. Feet are powerful things...so much to them. Even walking on green grass with bare feet does amazing things.
A wealthy estate owner l bought a world class pair from was full of dark energy. He probably ripped off many people in his life to get all that he had. He had evil in him....and probably had dead bodies in the cellar too (like that brainless nut Foxx at S.F ). l've never felt such a bad vibe from shoos than with the Maternas.
