^Foster & Son are probably the current world No 1:

Terry Moore was apprenticed at Peal & Co 1565-1965. Yes, that is 1565: Their 20th C client list ranged from: Humphrey Bogart to the Aga Khan; Marlene Dietrich to the Little Dook; Fred Astaire to Louis Mountbatten; Cary Grant; Charlie Chaplin; Doug Fairbanks Sr.; David Niven; Laurence Olivier; Steve McQueen and Dean Martin; even JFK.
Foster & Son also own Henry Maxwell and its library of lasts - probably Henry Maxwell (1759) was even above Hoby The Great (the inventor of the Iron Duke's Wellington boot) and Old Man Thomas in boot-making - OMT showed the job-seeking young John Lobb the door.
Eric Cook worked at Tuczek's and Henry Maxwell's and dismissively calls George Cleverley Tuczek's 'front-of-house man':

On Foster & Son: I have been told that, when the late 'Lucky' Lord Lucan went walk-about, Foster's shop was, for some reason, one of the the first ports of call for the Fuzz.

Now...now....Calm down ladies....!!!!!!!!!!!

The Foster ready to made oxfords look first rate, you can see instantly the finish and the lasts are superior to the likes of C&J.
