Marc,
Henry Poole is actually quite good among the bigger houses on Savile Row. I think it's due to fact that the business is still run by hand on family members, therefore quality control is much better than say Gieves and Hawkes or Huntsman.
FilmNoirBuff,
Quality control at Gieves and Huntsman is the responsibilty of the cutters, who are normally on fixed income, no matter how many suits they cut each year. There's no one to supervise the cutters.
Marc,
I agree with you totally on the travelling orders.
A Savile Row tailor once told me the overseas orders are invariably cut by some junior cutters, made by some junior tailors and finished by some junior finishers. He strongly advised placing the orders and having the fittings in London.
