Re: Cultural Reference thread

Route all ways batters my head.

I've heard in pronounced as rout and route(root).

East / West thing?

Re: Cultural Reference thread

Big problem here - root is the very common (as in usual, commonly used and accepted) word for a shag/fuck - so "Finding a good route"  in spoken conversation will elicit a response of "Well done - I wish I could" or "And how did your wife/husband/partner take it?*" similar or in a sophisticated meeting just raised eyebrows, and wink or two, or nudge nudge - say no more -  and suppressed guffaws.

Females will often refer to some bloke as "A dud root" - wonderful, devastating and quintessentially Australian.

* and if the mirth continues a further sotto voce to next person, play on "How did she take it?" - "Anyway she could?"

As in  - I asked her if she'd love me always - she replied "OK which way do you want it first?"

Re: Cultural Reference thread

been reading more of the Cambridge Ancient History lately, 1932 version
noticed some strange spellings:

"sovren"

"Renascence"

"What sort of post-apocalyptic deathscape is this?"
"I don't want to look like a cock hungry sailor after all !!!"
"When it comes to infidelity, broken families, and reckless fatherhood, the underclass are amateurs."
