Tattersall is great with knitwear doubt I'd wear it without, but the white cuts through well against what ever colour jumper you match it with.

I've just left an involvement with a new Ivy inflected clothing range  (Woofboxer knows the one) - The BD Tattersall was one of my recommendations.  Hope they come through.

BTW, I also got a Sero poly blend Tattersall from the Weejun, the most ginormous 70s bd collar I've ever seen and a Viyella one from the Andover...

Tattersall is also the classic 'old man' shirt as well as country clobber.

So beware if you do not want to appear aged.

Re: Autumn Ivy #5: The Button-Down Tattersall Shirt -

I was just thinking about The Andover Shop - coming on top of the thread about Press and their flap pocket - and I suddenly remembered this.
It could be done: soft collar beneath a crew neck sweater.  A button-down would avoid (at least in your own mind) any banal connections with traditional English countrywear.  Down below?  That could be problematic.  I don't quite see cords or jeans as the answer, do you?  Nor chinos.  Flannels, then, with a hefty shoe?  Avoid the Barbour.  How about a tan Gloverall?

Re: Autumn Ivy #5: The Button-Down Tattersall Shirt -

Wouldn’t work for me.

I live in a small market town in the South East. Farmers market. Church bells. Conservative with a very large C.

The tattersall is ubiquitous round here. Usually seen with Barbour, red cords, flat cap and golden retriever. I actually don’t mind it, but to me that’s become it’s ‘proper’ context.

I regret passing one up which was part of that Gant Yale Co Op range a couple of years ago. But don’t think it would have seen much action.

Re: Autumn Ivy #5: The Button-Down Tattersall Shirt -

Small towns are a problem.  I live in one myself, where wide-eyed pensioners in blue masks shuffle from shop to shop, cheek by jowl with sexy-looking girls in DMs and the usual 'middle market leisure-wear' crowd.  Buggers wouldn't prevent me from wearing a Tattersall, though, just as they didn't that Madras jacket back in 2008.  Sod 'em.  Oh, we have a farmers market.  Rainbow flags fluttering in a stiff breeze.  Would-be trendy, falling on its arse.  Trouble is, I can't think of anywhere better.
