Thanks for that info Tomiskiny.
I currently have two pair of Sanders (both bargains off ebay) which I keep for best. And a pair of RJ Colt cheapies for everyday wear - which are really quite good. Much better quality than the GBX ones of a similar price.
Went past Blackmans on Sunday and they had Sanders in again, black and loden green only, good sizes though, UK9-10.5
Note of caution on the common people, the crepe on one of mine split in two after only about 10 wears, might try the oven method as I did like them.
Last Tango could've been a whole different film if he'd have brought a watermelon instead of butter.
speaking of Playboys, there's a scene in an episode of Columbo's 2nd season, where Columbo is investigating in a basketball hall, and he asks one of the visitors where he got those shoes from...
I'll search for it on youtube....
It's called "The Most Crucial Game".
^ The sole unit, the split is the complete width at the widest part of the shoe. The banding(?) round the outside which the sanders don't have is intact just the crepe has split. I may be able to glue it together.
Yes I was liking them for everyday wear too but hadn't had them that long, being a bit lighter they were a bit more comfy on long walking days than the Joels.
Mr Brando would've been better off keeping that jacket for his later years when he ballooned to 20 stone..
A tip for anyone here with Playboys where the soles have become as rigid as a block of wood..
Aside from putting them in the oven, another way to treat them is to leave them in the sun all day. My George Cox PBs had slightly succumb to the dreaded Rigor mortis effect, so I decided to hang them in a 32' Degree sunshine for a few hours. By the end of the day the soles were as soft as putty, and are now an absolute pleasure to bop about in....
Just got a pair of FHW Burlingtons.
Very hard soles and slightly slimmer than PB's but by jove, I love them. If I can work our how, I'll upload a picture

eight and a half - but they are narrow - so are keepers. You may be thinking, though, of the Playboys that were up last week from someone else.
They went for £45. Mine were £30.
Steals.
What about some crepe soled bucks? Or is that to I genty for you L? I fancy a pair of crepe sole Camp-walkers of something like that, trouble is they're all very expensive.
