The great thing about rarely going to bed now is that one can just relegate sleep to regular two hour interludes & pretty much carry on living 24/7. As a consequence one tends to sleep in ones clothes propped up in an armchair. Most becoming for the wardrobe.
Today I am sporting a White T., Sweatshirt & Cords that have all been graced by becoming molded to my frame by some heavy armchair action since yesterday (If yesterday still can be said to exist once you have done away with the division between days & nights...). And very good they look too.
It's that old Ivy division between Oscar & Felix all over again.
Any other crumpled fans here ?
Around the house it's my natural state. Always has been. That's why I like polo shirts. Pull one on and a pair of jeans, then trot downstairs to free the cat from her Babylonian captivity in the basement. This morning, for instance, Tattersal, cords and lambswool sweater: all mismatched.
I'm very much for the worn in, slept in, slouchy look...
... not exactly for anything mismatched on purpose, though, I just grab what's next, neither trying to match nor trying to mismatch, just a bit of contrast and some moderate co-ordination...
Some of the images in 'Take Ivy' look like 'slept-in Ivy'. They probably had to drag themselves out of someone else's bed to get to a nine o'clock lecture. Interesting that when I was in higher education it was the wanky Thatcherites that whined most about having to do any work. The Chinese and Africans were always last out of the library - and got the First Class degrees.
Staceyboy and I once wondered whether some of them were in thrifted clothing, or had it been handed down, or was it just well-worn?
I don't remember too much about the male look when I was a fresher. But the girlie fashion was for too-large woolly sweaters, pleated skirts, tights and flat shoes. I found it quite appealing. The girls themselves, however, were convinced that their farts smelled fresher than new-mown hay.
Dressed in the dark Ivy. Left the house and saw that I was wearing (subtly) mismatched Ivy: warm green cords, cool gray patch pocket jacket, maroon square knit tie, tan Clark’s, white Makers— nothing exactly clashing, but nothing exactly nailing it either. And I love it.
Ten years after that Andy_B posting he still does the look - without meaning to, without effort - exactly like our esteemed Jdemy. I'd far rather (in a way) be able to manage that ultra-cool Polanski look from circa 1967. This will have to suffice.
Jdemy, from what I've seen of you elsewhere on the 'net, you look good.
