Re: Ralph Lauren - Australian connection

Does this finally settle the argument that Sydney is a more stylish city than Melbourne? Looks like it was in the 1920s at least.... what happened I wonder?

Well we'd always known Sydney was full of petty crims - but it was a surprise to see some well dressed.

Are you and meister in the book?

This a half assed compensation for the fact that they rip you Aussies off on their prices.

Really funny.

I'm trying to help you, I'm trying to help you to have standards. I'm trying to make you know that the world isn't pleased to see you. You're ugly and superfluous and ignorant and you should be frightened and meek and grateful.

Axel

Didn't you mention somewhere you were moving here?

Melbourne or Sydney?

It will be Melbourne.

Not a bad city all in all and the coolest Australia has on the mainland. Also the wettest judging by the weather reports these last few weeks. It's supposed to be dry according to the stereotyping.

Now clothing wise, I'll make sure to brace myself. Can not be that bad though in that large a city.

Oh welcome. I think.

Crowed House wrote "4 seasons in one day" about Melbourne.

Careful which suburb you live in. Heard some newcomer Pom the other day say how before she arrived she thought the suburb" Sunshine" sounded great so she looked it up, was surprisingly cheaper than others, so she committed to rent.

Took her a year to get out of lease and move closer etc.

NB , Melbourne funny.

Yeah, I'll make sure I choose carefully. I heard some areas actually have gang problems and all that. However, with a good choice of homestead, I will have a nice coast and beautiful woods around. I can't wait to be honest.

I would have thought in a sun drenched continent such as Australia, there is a risk of too much sun and skin cancer? If there's not enough sun in Melbourne what chance have us Northern Europeans got?

Re: Ralph Lauren - Australian connection

Yes, but the UV ratings as they are over there pose a real enough risk. I'd rather cover up, I'm sure if I go outside with any regularity and eat my veggies I will get enough vitamin D.

Don't care much for sunscreen, feels awful to be quite honest. I'd rather just wear long sleeves and/or sit in the shade.

Re: Ralph Lauren - Australian connection

You can get enough vitamin D from 10 minutes' exposure to the Aussie sun. Wait at the bus stop in a T-shirt and shorts and that should do you for the day.

I actually reckon the UV is so bad here the sun burns more than in the Middle East - when I was there I only ever seemed to tan, whereas here I burn.
