I recently ordered an Anderson's fair isle yoke and they knit me a woman's yoke cardigan instead. I've sent it back and they're going to knit me new one, but this isn't my first spot of bad luck in this regard. Before that I ordered a yoke jumper from Nor Nova and didn't hear back from them for a year despite multiple attempts to make contact. Months after having given up I got an email out of the blue saying that their customer service person had been fired due to incompetence and did I still want the jumper. I replied that yes I wanted it, and months of delays later they sent me one that was dark grey and pink when I'd ordered a light grey jumper with red detailing. I asked for an exchange and they just refunded my money in the end. The fair isle yoke jumper continues to elude me.
Haha, oh god, right I'm sticking to Johnstons.
I think this could have been a good thread but it got bogged down in the TI mire that seems to have become much stickier in the last week. I think the inanity really only started here when BoB stuck his ore in and drink was forced to defend himself.
Any excuse to drag up some photos of saddle shoulder shetlands, for me, is a very good thing. Someone stick that picture in The Gallery for future reference.
I agree wholeheartedly with your long post Drink. A fine post that I think was misplaced (by no fault of your own) in a thread about sweaters. The only thing I would say is I like the way that Andy seems to have gone off the cliff and never even touched the breaks. A true Kamikaze nutjob.
I've had 2 Shetlands from Nor Nova. Bought at a wee Farmers Market type affair, next to a nice Sausage stall. The stand was very out of place in it's position (far far from the other clothes stalls) and I would describe the stall and those running it as shambolic at best and incompetent at worst. Nice Sweaters though.
^ Nice one David. That you should do such a mitzvah for us!
Fantastic.
They wear them like Jesmond in that online shop, without a shirt.
Best thing on any forum/blog for a very long time. Too long. Thanks!
I'm wearing my shaggiest dog today, inspired by yon Beams photo. Light blue with a Navy Gingham underneath. A fine sweater but the collar doesn't look as nice as those Beams sweaters.
Something about that fluffy Cashmere makes it easier to wear more out there colours. I'd love a bright red shaggy dog. I'm not a red sort of person normally but I'd like to try it in Cashmere.
He doesn't say they do. He doesn't even imply it. In fact he implies that they don't.
Hmmmmm, they call me Mr Boombastic!
Shaggy!
I flicked through Anderson's offerings and saw at least one saddle shoulder. I think....
I'll have a look.
Maybe he's got on back to front. They're all a bunch of simpletons up there in Shetland.
He just looks happy to have been let out the cell.
Ahhhhh, the wonder of Scottish Knitwear sites - the acme of the truly awful.
I've just got this saddle shouldered roll neck, not shetland though, Lambswool. Nice cable down the center of the arm with orange contrast stitching either side. I didn't get mine online, and had to go up a size.

If you click onto the roll neck picture you'll get the colours of the flecks in the knit.
Hats are wank.
Can someone please then give me a clear example of a saddle shoulder then please, i seem to have not got my facts straight
