Anyone have opinions on the these fabrics by LP? I was looking through the book at Brooks Bros. the other day, and though the seersucker and cotton is expensive for MTM (I think it was $1500 or so), I'm thinking of getting something made. I really like the cloth. I was impressed with the cotton with that "poplin" of yesteryear finish too. There was also a series nice silk/wool/mohair blended plaids that were nice.
Another company, Vitale Barbaris (sp?) I'm not familiar with but I liked some of the University Cloth. I wish they had more English stuff, but a lot of the stuff I saw, I liked.
Will wrote that he had a negative experience with high super LP fabric. It's fragile and wears quickly. I can second Will. I have LP polo shirts, a gauze-like cashmere scarf, and an insanely priced suede belt (gift from my wife when we were touring the Forum shops in Las Vegas). I was about to buy an LP Horsey jacket at Bergdorfs when I woke up and came to my senses. LP is busy establishing a brand through a new retail presence so that, like Hermes, they can sell at any price. One of the many problems and limitations when it comes to label snobbery (God forbid!)
Regards,
Steven

I've never tried the University cloth but it always struck me as being far too similar to the rather poor Brooksease fabric to be a good choice for MTM.
My tailor, not a big proponent of LP, nevertheless likes their corduroy very much, FWIW
I'll definitely check it out - though that may not be for a while since my bourgeois little dreams have turned to summer.
