Crockett & Jones question

I just received a new pair of C&J Handgrades (Clifford).  I like them quite a bit but they're a little big (9E UK) and I'm having to use insoles.  A size down (8.5E UK) left my toes painfully cramped after about 45 minutes of wear.  The problem is that C&J does not offer many narrow sizes.  I'd like to purchase many more pairs of C&J but this fit issue is prohibiting me.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Chris

ps  I know that the C&J 348 last is said to be a bit narrower than the 337 so I may be able to go that route.
