Went to see the movie a couple days ago. Very good acting, fascinating story, and loads of nice suits. I recommend the movie.

Homoerotic, no, but homoromance, very much so. The movie is as much a love story as anything else.

Liked the suits too. Felt the movie was a little unfair to Tolson, sort of making him little more than Hoover's decorative yes-man-cum-boytoy for most of the movie. In reality, he had had years of public service in the War Department before joining the Bureau and while in the Bureau, he seems to have been an able administrator, participated in at least one shootout and was involved in apprehending Nazi spies.

If this movie doesn't include a scene where we see only a pair of crossed legs in black fishnet stockings, high heels, leg gently bouncing as Hoover's voice is heard: "I want the fucking pervert's head on my desk at 8 A.M.! No cock sucking Communist is going to make us look like fools as long as I'm running this Bureau!" and then reveal that the legs belong to Hoover, who is at home shouting into the phone...I'm asking for my money back.

A veteran FBI agent of the Hoover era (now long retired) told me that none of the men he knew who had known Hoover well gave any credence to the rumors that he was gay.

Justinian was an absolute Roman ruler and a great one at that. Indeed much of the civil laws of the western world (excluding Britain) owe a great deal to his codification. However, I accept that he was not born or raised to rule: nevertheless! I'd rather be ruled by a wise absolute ruler than a bunch of greedy peasants with pretensions.
