I have never been banned elsewhere, but a number of friends or people I admire and respect have been banned elsewhere. I am a voluntary exile from Style Forum.
If you doubt my qualifications as a Buff's Bastard, just wait till I unleash the upcoming story of my Birthday Suit!
Some sort of physical disfigurement is good, as is a sexual deviancy (details not needed).
TV
I wonder if I qualify.
smashing good thread, TL.
i think to be a true Buff's Bastard requires...for lack of a better word...a certain 'notoriety' of some kind elsewhere. therefore i don't think those with uncontroversial reputations elsewhere are true BBs. Buff's Illegitimate Stepchildren, tho, maybe?

Is there Buff's bastards roll call somewhere?
What gives one the right to be one?
Do you have to want to be one or is it a badge you get just for having seen service in a campaign?
Is it self styled, or part of a membership vote or a knighthood from FNB himself?
Maybe there should be a patch for all who meet the requirements.
My thoughts.
Maybe (a la Andy) we could have a grading system -
Starting Bastard.
Bastard.
Big Bastard.
Great Big Bastard.
Total Bastard.
etc.
??????????
But not if it makes us look less than serious.
t.
For me, a Bastard newbie(at the very least), being a Bastard has certain requirements.
1.A certain level of independence towards one's style of dress.
As my grandfather was fond of saying,"Boy, don't ever dress for people who don't give a crap about you". If that's not Bastardly, I don't know what is. Bill Blass used to say about dressing, "Know who you are, know what you want to say, and don't give a damn about anything else."
2.An appreciation of the fine art of dressing and a great respect for those who make the items which help us identify ourselves to the rest of the world, without being a prissy b*tch about it.
3.A desire to be noticed-in a good way, especially by those who are desired by the Bastard in question.
4.A certain refusal to have one's style dictated to him by a self-described "style guru", who, BTW, usually looks like a ginourmous POS himself-no names, please. Initials alone will suffice.
5.A desire for the sensually exciting in life, not just the casually pleasant(Zzzzzzzzzzzzzz).
6.An enourmous amount of aggressive, animalistic behaviour/desires lying just beneath all of that cotton, silk and cashmere, instead of the eunuch-like, effeminate and pretentious who usually populate the world of the well-dressed male.
There's more, but "Goldfinger" just came on, and JB's just about to meet you-know-who!!!
Later, Bastards!
SAAAAAA-LUTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I like BCL.
I think being banned for controversy is as good a mark as any.
We few, we happy few, we band of bastards.
I was born a bastard. Where else could I end up?
Good luck and Godspeed. You are one of the true Bastards!
A true Buffs Bastard is an individual thinker. Someone who is prepared to speak out and tell the truth about clothing/tailors without fearing the nasty wrap of the false gods. Someone who is prepared to become unpopular by keeping the false gods accountable.
l'm an original Buffs Bastard and i'm proud to say so. l have 1,000 times more respect for this site than all the rest put together. l wear my bannings from SF and Ask Kabbaz About Clothes like a badge of honour and i'm so glad l was banned because it's woken me up and made me realise that these sites were holding me back. l was fed far too much misinformation by highly uninformed people; but now i'm free from that.
