Re: A thread on Ask Andy by Alex Kabbaz dedicated to Grayson

I wonder if all shirtmakers end up moderating online message boards?
I mean, after they've been artists, printers, shirtmakers, and defenders of law-and-order?
Late in their careers, after they've done "everthing else" and reached the pinnacle of their craft?
(...or should that be "trade"?)

Let this be a warning to you artisans out there: don't price yourself out of the market, or you might find yourself hustling for virtual sales on the internet (and bullying virtual customers).

I see that "First Prize" from the CSF Raffle is a "Kabbaz-Kelly Ready-Made to your Self-Measure Cotton Shirt or Blouse."

Does this mean customshirt1.com will be competing with Jantzen? I can just picture the inevitable "Critique my Kabbaz-Kelly Self-Measured Shirt" thread...

Customshirt1...Never visited that website before, it's totally ludicrous. 'The world's best shirtmakers..' mmmhhh...In Italy whoever tried to introduce directly or indirectly him/herself so blatantly would get a very typical and unequivocal answer (more or less explicit according to one's politeness level..  ;-))

Re: A thread on Ask Andy by Alex Kabbaz dedicated to Grayson

That has to be one of the most ridiculously tacky websites I've ever seen in my life!!!
It gets worse when he drops his clients' names!
WTF is that about?! Actually, I know, but I don't like it!!!
Why is it that people who go around casting themselves as 'style gurus' always have the worst looking wardrobes, shops, services, websites, etc?!
I hear that he tried to associate himself with Mimmo Siviglia in Rome, but they were wise enough to listen to outside advice and avoided him like the plague that he is.
He MAY have good technical advice, but that's where he should stop. Really, really should stop there.
Yep, that's where he should stop. The square root of 98,723 is.........

The Customshirt1 website is so tacky, it should be a sin. It's incorrigibly tacky.

I can't imagine that the owner also produces "art" and runs an "art school". I bet it's a school for learning how to use a Bedazzler gun on bespoke cowboy shirts.

Re: A thread on Ask Andy by Alex Kabbaz dedicated to Grayson

Well, whatever the case, AK's site has just made me realize that Tom Wolfe was standing right behind me at a squash match I was watching last year at Trinity. I kept wondering why he looked so familiar and thinking that couldn't be the usual WASPy parent from Philadelphia (or non-WASPy parent from Pakistan, lately). The elaborate lengths to which he was dressed for the match should have given it away.  I think his son plays for the team, they have  a "Tommy" Wolfe on their roster, now that I check it.

Either everyone else was being the soul of discretion or no one else recognized him, because no one talked to him the whole time...except me, who said "pardon me" when I was walking past.
