Bump. I stand by what I said then about Brideshead - a poster who, unlike me, really did 'know his onions'.
Brideshead is same vintage as me and we used the same shops, pubs and dancehalls around 69/70. I agree with some of what he writes in the first post but I don't believe 'girls were of little interest' . We were always after them, but as a teenager we weren't looking for any long term relationship. Kingstonian (also same vintage) doesn't remember the influences being considered French and I can relate to his post.
Unfortunately I can't read many of the posts.
The only French stuff I have owned are 1 pair of shoes, a few Lacoste jumpers and Polo shirts and a Kedge jacket. I'm sure I've worn more Italian clothes if we are talking European influences.
