Re: Groovin' at the I Spot -

It was on quite a good skate video at the time, one of the Panic/Blueprint ones I think.

Re: Groovin' at the I Spot -

Here is the missing link between hip hop and jazz, Digable Planets were the one of the first to really fuse the two in a way that stood as something unto itself

Tune is called K.B's Alley

Re: Groovin' at the I Spot -

I was listening to that very song yesterday in the car. Sitting outside Pets At Home, waiting for my Fiance to come out, I was watching about 20 Sparrows ripping holes in big bags of mixed bird seed that they were displaying at the shops front door. The song really fitted with the scene.

Re: Groovin' at the I Spot -

My friend's flat mate works there, (not that exact one)I always like to ask him when he gets in from work, ''So.... did you sell any good pets today?'' I'm not sure if it was ever really that funny, but it's become a great catch phrase for me. Really gets the night off to a good start.

Re: Groovin' at the I Spot -

His son, Femi Kuti, came to the Hague for an African music festival about six years ago....and I have never seen so much energy in a performance and the dancers were unbelievable, same style of dancers as his dad had.

Howza bowza some Akli D....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F5OXbjTrgyE

He jumps from traditional berber songs to jazz guitar to disco whistles and techno breaks. He also jumps from Berber dialects to English to French to Algerian. He's a nut and I love his style. I originally bought his album Kabyl Mental/Ma Yela because I liked the rings he was wearing on the cover. That was in HMV in belfast which is absolutely brilliant for folk and 'world' music.
