Church's used to be $650 about 15 years ago when l bought my first pair, in some shops they aren't much more at $900 and have remained that price for years and years. Naturally at Henry Bucks they cost about $1,200 and have done so for about 4 years. Church's are the shoe to strive for in Oz and always has been. The people who own G&G and E.G are very very few, you could almost count them on two hands in Victoria. Not too many people own C&J either.
American Tailors bought 30 pair of G&G and have only sold about half over about twelve months. Herringbone have struggled to move stock of C&J in the last six months. Not many people want to pay much money for something (over $200) without a well known name. l remember the owner of a certain shoe store boasting to me (about 10 years ago) how he'd sold two pairs of $600 Moreschi's to the CEO of a bank, it just shows how small time our thinking is when it comes to shoos. Shops try to sell good shoos here, but no-one hardly seems to buy the mid end, only the designer, the low end and the extremely high end Artioli's. l get the feeling that the middle end of the shoo market will drop out one day and most people will make do with low end shoos, while the `few' buy the highend.

^I think what is happening in Oz is repeated the world over. I have been on the look out for decent shoes on my fellow commuters and also in work, and I can honestly say, I haven't seen a decent pair in several months, not C&J level or above. I might add, I don't go out enough, but something is happening here, and it ain't good.

The latest advert on Ivy Style showcases some of Brooks Brothers latest atrocities. I don't know what's worse the boate shoe with leather sole or the completely fucked oxford cloth hoody shirt.
It seems Brooks have dug deep into their heritage then spliced the things they found with the shit you find currently in Matalan. This mutant garbage is almost as bad as a duffle coat with puffer jacket arms.

Anything involving that Woofter bloke isn't going to look good. What the hell was Nick thinking??? ls a person going to want these ugly ducks enough to wanna pay $700 for them?
