This is life changing stuff.
By which I mean I read half of this essay, then went off on a maiming spree dramatically changing everyones life who I encountered.
Next he can write up practical thoughts for someone addicted to a forum and how it wrecked their life.
I didn't read the article past the heading but some nice clobber on show.
"Because odd jacket looks hold such wide possibility for over-festooning, if you experiment with a crazy accessory (in the next post we will see this can be the odd jacket itself), try keeping it to one item. The crazier that one item, the more chance of success you will have as a beginner if you tone everything else back."
I'm not sure I agree with that. Wearing a "crazy" patterned jacket and then apologising for it by wearing plain pants, shirt, tie, etc. is usually a cop out IMO.
Why it's almost as if a neurotic collection of made-up rules can't replace an actual sense of style or taste!
^ Yes, I think he could have saved a few hours and just written: "you've either got it, or you don't".
^ I'm with you on this one, fxh. I think he does a good job. What else is around that is as relatively coherent?
The acid test is which of the two could arkirshner most easily commit to memory?
^^^^^
I think that is a cop out of a response.
Thing is we all have a base level of understanding, some of us start a bit higher up the ladder than others, but we are all learning, if some of the greatest artist of our time just stopped at a plateau and said, yeah I've done everything that's it, then our lives and our world would be very dull in the visual sense.
We all should keep learning and pushing forward, and as people raise questions, or set theories, it helps us under pin what we know or think. Look at Miles, he kept advancing, maybe not always to better places, but he kept searching. I don't think it is a bad thing for us all to consider things.
We can all become better, even if only a few ever become great.
As for the article or thread, what ever you want to call it, I think the colour wheel is over played with clothing (yes you heard it here first, but I had to go through that learning to get to that point, there is a very simple approach to matching colours), fit is incredibly subjective in terms of what works for a person, and style is rarely timeless, most people look to stand out, and in doing that usually go over the top, for it to be considered timeless.
So in summary, if it is to do with clothes, it's worth a read, you might learn something, you might not, in fact it may even help you understand your own thoughts better by what you're disagreeing with it all.
