I feel he has a singularly distinct style much like Libya's Gaddafi and Cuba's Castro. Certainly, it has its merits in terms of sheer aesthetics, and pageantry.
Ah, good one Grayson!
As for that sociopathic, sadistic genocidal freak's suit, isn't a copy or a variation on the Mao Suit?
Kind of Mao with a Tennis collar?
Would it work with a BD?
Maybe not...
Edit: The hair is Mao-y too...

What colour is his ring?
I hear it's going to be based on certain historical political texts, possibly that of von Clauswitz.
I think that we should just try to understand Kim Jong Il , before we blow him up!
Which came first the Nehru jacket or the Mao suit?
I'm guessing Mao. Purely based on the dates and the fact that it is so clearly an evolution of Chinese 'peasant' dress.
The Nehru style was popular in the '60s, but does it go back further?
I can see the Nehru collar fitting in with traditional Indian dress but when did it cross with Western tailoring to produce the long, slim cut, high buttoning (often fly-fronted) jacket?
Stalin had some funny all-buttoned-up jackets too...
Leaving Nehru to one side, why is the all-buttoned-up look favoured by a certain sort of person? Does the constriction of the style restrict the blood flow to the brain?
Obviously for Stalin, Mao, & Kim it's a military look. Nehru's style was probably more of a cultural statement...
And why does Kim have a girl's name? Is he/she really called Kimberly? Could she actually be a Trad gone bad?
Miles.
