Men's heads grown larger over the years, or hats have become smaller?

Well, I have noticed that shrinking, or may be inflating even in women's. Could it be that some people are too tentative to wear headgear and resort to undersize hats? I see many females sporting this type of hats these days, in my region, and I am not enchanted in the slightest.

Shoe sizes have increased substantially over the last 80 or so years, so I assume hat sizes have as well.

Surely you just buy a hat that fits and suits you. My concern is that the London hatters have raised prices by around 20% in the last year.
