Yeah I'd say style doesn't have a price tag, but quality does. The roof blows off, when style meets quality. Then we get something bordering brilliance. Clothes are just design, and the design has to serve the purpose. Most people recognise the beauty of an outfit. But the question is, how do you get there? Like FNB said, you learn, and you keep learning.

I think because no one round them probably knows anything to do with clothes, so in their eyes, their level of knowledge even with a passing interest is so massive over their peers they think they know more than they do. Most people turn up only considering the style that is in fashion. So they usually don't get a good idea about how thing should fit, style aside. I couldn't tell a tailor how to make clothes, but I'm confident I could dress someone well. I'm mean, it's my job, so I hope I can! Most importantly I enjoy it, and that's really what we all should be doing. We are lucky enough to have lives where we can afford to spend a lot of time and money thinking about something that really isn't of massive importance.

Re: Inane Post of the Day 2012: The End of the Sartorial World Edition

I work for a small but long standing (42 year old) men's outfitters in the home counties, 25 mins outside London. It's in a town where many of the city-gents and captains of industry live. I get to dress millionaires and billionaires pretty much daily, most of them prefer to pop to us, than into the smoke. I wouldn't say we can offer what the Row can at all, but I like to think people use us more for their smart/casual attire, although we do a lot of business suits, and shirts to. We look to supply more Italian and European brands, as there is no point competing with the English brands as they are readily available everywhere. We also do MTM for the Italian brands we carry.

Dressing people soon put to bed any thoughts I had about rules. Everyone is so different from, size to complexion, you have to look a every person as new, without a pre-convictions of what is going to work. I think it is due to the persistent knocking down of any disillusion I had over the last 6 months of working there, that I'm beginning to get the grips of a foundation. No way am I seasoned, I'm as green as grass, but it's starting to all make sense.

Re: Inane Post of the Day 2012: The End of the Sartorial World Edition

Just start with a afeckin diary man. Just a list each day of customer 1, wanted pants, tie and shirt, sold him, blue shirt, grey pants etc, alteratiosn none, age 47, size 36. Customer happy, I thought he should buy a wider collar shirt.

Thatsortvof stuff, Straightforward honest, simple, factual,

We need that
