Just bought another one of these...

http://www.llbean.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CategoryDisplay?page=tropic-weight-blazer&categoryId=20012&storeId=1&catalogId=1&langId=-1&parentCategory=6366&cat4=6307&shop_method=pp&feat=6366-tn

Hopefully that comes up as Olive.

It's a darted yet slouchy sack & I snip out the minimal shoulder pads.

My other one has a 3rd button hole punched in, this one won't.

Welted seams, centre vent, 4 on cuff. Costs nothing.

It's getting warmer...

What are you doing for the long hot summer ahead?

Of the two core 'Modernist' influences way back at the start - Ivy & Italian, Ivy is probably the less 'sophisticated' of the two. It's a 'harder' look.

Others may think otherwise...

Re: Just bought another one of these...

Mr Cool - Did you stick with The Look or morph into something else as the last 22 years have flown by?
I found a nice rut & stayed put.
Alex I think lives in a state of constant informed innovation. Sounds very Modernist to me.
AAAC's 'Brideshead' was a very sussed Skin back in the day who via Paninari arrived at the Brideshead Revisited look.
It's all good.

I just wondered what your own style journey might be.

All the best -

David

Re: Just bought another one of these...

I'm actually currently searching for a cotton khkai sportjacket. My tastes are more Italian than Ivy so I'm eyeing a Borrelli patch pockets, 3roll2, side vents cotton jacket, which actually might be considered Italian Ivy.

Re: Just bought another one of these...

Greetings, Gentlemen.  This is my first post, after enjoying your company in silence for some time.

I was inspired by Mr. Lean's choice and almost bought the same jacket myself.  What I ended up with instead was this cotton/linen "canyon jacket" from J. Crew:

http://www.jcrew.com/catalog/product.jhtml?id=prod82408391&catId=cat170060

They also have a very similar jacket in cotton chino on sale at the same price as Mr. Lean's LL Bean jacket:

http://www.jcrew.com/catalog/product.jhtml?id=prod80983391&catId=cat170060

To complete the look, I got a J. Crew light blue BDOC, two pairs of RL tissue chino pants in white and navy, and a Band of Outsiders repp tie.

And to top it off, a Borsalino Panama hat from Ernest DelMonico:

I'm quite pleased with how it all looks together.

Re: Just bought another one of these...

Thank you, Mr. Lean - I appreciate your compliments.  The look is a work in progress and I haven't thought of giving it a name yet.

I live in a small town in the western US and the way the typical male dresses here, you can't tell if he is on the way to a wedding or going out to mow his lawn.  I enjoy dressing up though, and I am trying for a style that looks well put-together without looking like someone who is compelled to dress up for work.  I admire the look of the English gentleman (both city and country) as well as the east-coast "preppy" look.  There is not much selection in clothing locally so I get most of mine online.  Some favorites are polo.com, jcrew.com, tmlewin.co.uk, harvieandhudson.com, and brooksbrothers.com.

Re: Just bought another one of these...

I'd call it a very well thought-out take on the updated American classic  look -
Preppy wit & youthful good taste added to a respect for traditional forms.
Mixing Lewin & H&H with more American items is a great way to give the style more interest and sophistication, IMVHO.

You should call it 'The McCann Look' and carry on following your own vision -

Good to have you posting here!

David
