l remember seeing some journalist on t.v not long ago. His tie knot was easily as big as his fist. He looked like such a clownboy.

Re: I don't like the Windsor knot.

Half windsor is not that much bigger but is more obviously "triangular" if that makes any sense.  I think it's almost as common as the four in hand.

I always thought I tied my tie in a four in hand, until recently when I realized that going around twice actually makes it a Prince Albert.

I always thought that a Prince Albert was something that held another dangling length in place slightly more southwards of the neck.

Re: I don't like the Windsor knot.

Interesting. I only use a four in hand with knitted silk. Otherwise it's twice round.

Re: I don't like the Windsor knot.

I either use a 4 in hand aka schoolboy knot or  a what I always knew as  a US Newsreader Knot. - with tie started inside out around collar - I haven't checked other knots out as I do it all unconsciously often without a mirror. Doing a new knot takes work and thinking.

Re: I don't like the Windsor knot.

I prefer the longer knot that twice around gives me.  It's still narrow, but it's longer and less triangular. More cylindrical to my eye.

Did not know about that other Prince Albert. But that isn't a knot. Thank God. I can't imagine why anyone would do that to himself. There is a lot I don't understand.
