I love these G&G soles.
not a fan of suede so the actual shoe doesn't do anything for me, but those soles are works of art. As everyone's said, it's a shame they are doomed to be scuffed and worn. They're almost too precious to actually walk on
Based on what has to have been a complete nightmare of a neurotic client's never-ending barrage of changes in the design of the shoes, one wonders if Tony Gaziano will ever recover from this harrowing experience and return to the States.
Herr Roetzel writes that the smoothness of the suede texture dictates where they can be worn with smoother, lighterweight summer fabrics is as much a factor as the color. I can see these shoes with, for example, a tan or navy gabardine suit for summer. Roetzel uses the dark brown Alden suede tassel loafer as an example of a smooth suede for summer.
As to consumption choices, forum members run the gamut on what they're willing to spend. I'd hesitate to take a shorter vacation or forego a jewelry gift for my wife in order to buy these shoes, althrough they are beautiful. Plus there's always the risk of retaliatory spending ("now that you've spent $3,000 on these shoes, I guess I'm justified in buying this $5,000 bracelet", and so on).

Steven
